HAPPY NEW YEAR! Nicki Minaj brought the new year in hosting a night at E11even Nightclub in Miami, while BET finally airs The Pinkprint Tour.
Nicki was spotted in Miami, as she hosted E11even Nightclub. She took pictures with fans and friends. There were also some familiar faces in the crowd, like Lala Anthony. Nicki served everything that we needed with these braids!
And as if we haven’t waited long enough, BET has finally aired The Pinkprint Tour Movie. This is the first time in about 16 years that BET has not aired 106&Party, and what better way to end that ritual than showing the queen herself? The show included little tidbits from Nicki, explaining how she feels about touring and the experience. Check out the footage below.
This morning Nicki, to put it simply, SHUT IT DOWN! In preparation for her shows tonight in New Jersey and Sunday in New York City, she appeared on Good Morning America. Nicki spoke on her recent Twitter expression regarding the nominations she received for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. After that interview she performed her songs Feelin’ Myself, The Night Is Still Young, and Moment For Life.
Oh…and did we mention that Nicki announced that she has a new fragrance coming out in September, it’s called, “The PinkPrint”.
“She gives the best critiques,” Finch told TVGuide.com after his elimination. “I’m a very direct person, and I think Nicki is the same. Maybe that’s one reason why we connect in such a way, is because of her honesty and how truthful she is.”
American Idol: Get to know the Top 10 of Season 12!
Now, now — we know what you’re thinking. How could someone who has such a blatant disregard for the dignity and decorum (snort) of American Idol be a positive influence for those vying for the No. 1 spot? Consider these points:
Nicki tells it like it is. Sure, she may occasionally start rambling about waffles and relies too much on different enunciations of the word “ladybug” to convey her level of approval, but for the most part, Nicki gives it to the contestants straight. She didn’t sugarcoat the harsh critique that Lazaro Arbos needed to hear (we’re sorry, but it’s true!) after he butchered Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway” last week. She was the only judge who had the guts to tell diminutive hopeful Matheus Fernandes (remember him?) to quit with the “pity party” shtick and focus on his singing during Hollywood Week. And in the Vegas rounds, Minaj’s advising Tina Torres that she needed to ditch her hairstyle in favor of one that didn’t age her 20 years was a totally valid point that no one else on the panel even hinted at. Plus, she’s not afraid to challenge her other panelists (namely Urban) when she disagrees with what they have to say. On a related note: While her reported feud with Carey seems to have died down, let’s not forget Minaj’s greatest moment so far — her dismissive “Randy, shut up” moment from the March 5 episode.
TV Scorecard: What’s renewed? What’s canceled?
She’s unpredictable. It’s not only Minaj’s outfit and hair color that provide a surprise every week. Even aside from her tardiness and Elimination Night walkoff last week, Minaj’s mouth alone is like a box of chocolates — you never know what you’re going to get. No canned responses here! But if nothing else, she keeps the contestants (not to mention host Ryan Seacrest) on their toes — and keeps the feedback portions of the show interesting. Are her sexually charged comments toward Paul Jolley, Angie Miller and Kree Harrison juvenile? Sure. Irrelevant? Maybe. But they also force the contestants to be on their A game for more than just the three minutes they spend performing. And, especially in the case of Kree — whose response a couple of weeks ago that she was just aiming to keep her “wife” happy with her performance was, in a word, perfect — Minaj’s head-scratching comments are a chance for them to let their personalities shine and likely win more votes in the process.
She wears her heart on her sleeve. Whether it’s Paul Jolley “stimulating her sexual appetite,” Charlie Askew resonating with her own brand of crazy, or Curtis Finch Jr. breaking her heart by landing in the bottom two on the season’s first elimination night, many of the contestants hold a special place in Nicki’s heart, and she doesn’t hold back when it comes to showing her emotional investment in them. After Charlie’s disastrous Genesis cover that preceded his elimination, Minaj said what everyone in the audience and watching from home was thinking, when she asked where quirky Charlie had gone and where this dark, tortured soul who replaced him came from. Imagine Steven Tyler or Jennifer Lopez (or even Randy Jackson, for that matter) getting up and walking away from the judges table in an act of protest to demonstrate their support for one of the contestants. It wouldn’t happen. It’s got to be reassuring for the hopefuls to know that someone’s in their court.
Tune in Thursday, February 10, 2011 On NBC at 11:35pm /10:35c !
Saturday Night Live hosted by Jessie Eisenberg with musical guest Nicki Minaj averaged a preliminary 3.2 rating with adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters. That ties the second highest adults 18-49 rating of the season (also scored by the 9/25/10 premiere) and trails only the 1/8/11 Jim Carrey (NFL Wildcard boosted) episode.
It was a tenth of a point above the 1/15/11 episode hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow with musical guest Cee Lo Green, which scored a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating.
Nicki Minaj has been tapped as the musical guest for an upcoming episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Young Money MC will join “Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg, who will serve as host, for the show’s January 29 broadcast.
THR also reported that Linkin Park will perform during the February 5 episode, which is set to feature hosting duties from former “SNL” castmember Dana Carvey.
Known for her out-of-the-box fashion and manic rhymes, Minaj will likely perform her new single, “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake, as she brought the tune to her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” earlier this week. Eisenberg’s and Minaj’s upcoming appearance marks the first time for both on the sketch show.
“SNL” isn’t the only treat Minaj has up her sleeve for her fans. Minaj recently teamed up with Rihanna to shoot the music video for another one of the MC’s new singles, “Fly.” When E! News asked about the concept for the upcoming clip, Nicki remained tight-lipped, saying, “We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video, and that’s all I can say about that.”
However, it was the duo’s TwitPics that sent the Internet ablaze when rumors circulated that Nicki and Rihnna were living together. The MC took to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to clear the air. “I don’t know where people got this really insane, hilarious, random rumor that she and I were living together,” she said. “We just shot the video for a song I have on the album I have called ‘Fly,’ and when I saw her, the first thing I said was, ‘So, did you hear we’re living together?’ and we just started cracking up laughing. She was like, ‘Yo, I can’t believe that people are, like, this ridiculous. So we TwitPic’d ourselves, and she put it on Twitter and said ‘Me and Nicki at our new pad’ or something.”
