Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is getting a splash of pink. Nicki Minaj has confirmed that she’s already laid a guest verse for her Young Money boss’ highly-anticipated album, scheduled for release later this year.
“I recorded something for Carter IV, and I recorded something with the Birdman recently,” the Pink Friday femcee told MTV News, also referring to what’s likely a collaboration for Baby’s Bigger Than Life LP.
The Harajuku Barbie is among the privileged few to hear Tha Carter IV, claiming that it’s going to blow listeners’ minds. “I think Carter IV is gonna just be exceptional, of course,” she continued. “I think Wayne is definitely on his grind crazy right now. But yep, my Carter IV verse has been handed in officially.”
The Young Money cohorts are set to hit the road on Weezy’s “I Am Music II” tour, kicking off on Wednesday in Providence,Rhode Island.
Pink Friday continues to march closer and closer to the million copies sold plateau. Still, that doesn’t mean the surprises from the album have concluded. The “Roman’s Revenge (remix)” which allegedly featured Lil Wayne has been a topic of speculation for weeks now, basically ever since the album itself was released. As we all remember, Weezy was unable to feature on Nicki’s debut because of his concluding prison sentence. Well, wait no more as the song is real.
Pink has turned platinum. Nicki Minaj’s debut album, Pink Friday, has been certified platinum after shipping 1 million units in the U.S. since it dropped on November 22. According to the RIAA, it received the certification on December 17, less than one month after its release.
“Pink Friday remains the #2 Rap Album and the #4 Album in the country on Billboard’s 200. Thank you for your continued support,” wrote Nicki on Twitter after her album moved up from No. 8 to 4 on this week’s Billboard 200.
Additionally, her collabo with Trey Songz, “Bottoms Up,” crosses the double-platinum threshold this week. “And to top it all off, ‘Bottoms Up’ is double platinum. S/O 2 @TreySongz who woulda thought… *sings* all around the wooorld do ya hear me?” said the Harajuku Barbie.
Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are ready to spread their wings and “Fly.” The ladies are scheduled to shoot a video for their collaboration off the Young Money rapper’s platinum-certifieddebut Pink Friday, with Sanaa Hamri in the director’s chair. Hamri has helmed videos for Mariah Carey, Prince, and B.o.B.
The Harajuku Barbie has been steady on the video grind, most recently shooting a clip for “Moment 4 Life” with her Young Money cohort Drake. Already, Nicki has released visuals for “Your Love,” “Check It Out,” and “Right Thru Me,” where she flexed her acting chops.

As expected, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj arrive in the Nos. 1 and 2 slots, respectively, on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Mr. West sold 496,000 of his “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” while Minaj moved 375,000 of her “Pink Friday” debut according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Both sales starts are a bit lower than initially projected, as some industry insiders had predicted in the early part of last week that the pair were on track to start with perhaps 550,000 and 400,000, respectively.
